Contactless No Money In Account

Does anybody know if you need to have money on card to use contactless? Need to get a couple of bits on wednesday but wont have money till friday im with barclays? Xxx

I think there has to be £1, not sure if that's just my bank x

You need the whole amount of what you're buying.

I think it kinda depends where your shopping... For instance, I can fill the car up with petrol using contactless even if theres not enough money in my account. Contactless payments usually always take 3 or more days for the money too come out your account and show up on a statement. I only know this as my partner works for RBS.
But its only ever worked for me at the Tesco garage.

Are you talking about Pay at Pump? That's completely different.

My contactless payments come out straight away and I need the right money in my account or it will be declined.

I'm with Barclays.

With NatWest you don't need the money in your account.. I used contactless while in minus without realising it. My bank doesn't take the money out for 3 working days every single time I've used contactless which is actually why I don't use it anymore!

Are you talking about Pay at Pump? That's completely different.

Pay at pump and inside the actual garage. The card machines at the Pay at pump here don't always work.

I've just got the answer from Barclays, I tweeted them and they replied immediately.

They said Contactless payments take 1/2 working days to be debited from your account balance!!

Seems I was wrong! I never knew that! [emoji44][emoji38] xx

That's strange mines seems to come out straight away I can see it on my banking app the only time it's doesn't as if I pay through pay pal

I know Natasha, so do mine as I'm always checking my balance, but that's the reply I got from Barclays..... really strange.
